XAP Applications are not getting published in Windows Phone 8.1 via Intune Integrated SCCM 2012 R2

XAP Applications are not published in Windows Phone 8.1 via Intune Integrated SCCM 2012 R2? I’m using a trial version of Microsoft Intune, and I’ve successfully integrated Intune with SCCM / ConfigMgr 2012 R2 infrastructure. Directory Sync Tool is used to Sync the On-premises AD users with Azure Active Directory.

Until now, everything worked well. Support Tool for Microsoft Intune Trial Management of Windows Phone 8/ 8.1 guide has been used to set up Microsoft Intune Company Portal application.PFX certificate for Windows Phone enrollment. Following commands helped to set up the Microsoft Intune Company Portal application. All the source files are available in the above link.

After completing the steps mentioned in the blog, I enrolled in Windows Phone 8.1 devices. I was also able to log in to Company Portal. None of the sample XAP applications (Shapes.XAP, ClickMeV1.XAP, and ClickMeV1.1.XAP) available in Intune Trial Management Toolkit were NOT published in Windows 8.1 company portal. Under Apps, I could see the message “your query did not return any results“.

I checked all the log files like dmpuploader.log and Deployment status in the console; however, I didn’t get any clue. What to do next, I left this issue for some days. Today again, I take a look at the issue. I’ve noticed that the extension for the Windows Intune node and one item underneath that node is named “Windows Phone 8.1 Extension“.

What I did for fixing the issue?

Windows Phone 8.1 Extension was DISABLED. I’ve enabled the Windows Phone 8.1 Extension from SCCM / ConfigMgr console path “\Administration\Overview\Cloud Services\Extensions for Windows Intune”. XAP Applications are not published in Windows Phone 8.1 via Intune Integrated SCCM 2012 R2.

The new Microsoft Intune extension got enabled however dmpuploader.log in Intune integrated SCCM primary server started throwing the following errors. I thought this could be an internet connectivity issue or a timely one, which will get fixed automatically.

GetServiceVersion failed. Possibly this api doesn't support by current cloud service. You can ignore it. What can we do now ? Restarted the server and wow !! The log file dmpuploader.log in Intune integrated SCCM primary server started showing the successful upload details.

Logged into Windows Phone 8.1 Company Portal, and here it’s I could see all the XAP applications which I published in the Company portal. Not only .XAP application, I could see a Web application (Kuku Kube) that I published to that user.

So what we need to do to get all the applications published in Windows Phone 8.1 ?

We need to enable Windows Phone 8.1 Extension from SCCM / ConfigMgr console path “\Administration\Overview\Cloud Services\Extensions for Windows Intune“.
