How to Unenroll Remove Windows Phone Device from Intune or SCCM 2012 Environment

In one of the previous post, I’ve explained about the Enrollment process for Windows Phone Devices to Intune environment. In this post, I’m going to explain about unenrollment process of Windows Phone devices from Intune + SCCM 2012 hybrid environment. I’ve a hybrid environment with Intune and SCCM 2012. The recommendation is to use retire (Wipe Company Content and Retire the mobile device from Configuration Manager) option from SCCM 2012 console. As you can see in the below picture, there are two options. One is to Wipe company content and retire and another is to Wipe the mobile device and  retire. Be careful about the second option, if you select 2nd option then all the data from your mobile phone will be wiped and device will be set back to default factory settings. When a user has assigned to a company owned mobile device and he left the organization then you can select the 2nd option (wipe the mobile and retire). However when the mobile is a personal (CYOD / BYOD)  device and user wants unenroll the device then the best option is Wipe Company content and Retire the mobile.

Follow the steps to UnEnroll a Windows Phone Device from Intune “Company portal” (in a Hybrid scenario)

1. Open up SCCM 2012 console and right click on the Mobile device select any one of the option depending upon your scenario. In this post I’m going to explain about CYOD /BYOD device which is enrolled into company portal.

6.  Tap on DELETE button to delete account.

If you delete this account, any Office files you haven’t saved or uploaded yet will be deleted. All apps and policies required by your company will also be deleted. However, if you still have an Exchange email account on your phone, any policies for that account will continue to apply until you delete it.

7. Once you deleted the account (step 6), your Windows Phone is already unenrolled from your company  portal (Intune + SCCM). Tap on CLOSE button. Password is no longer required on your windows phone.

The security policy for your phone has changed, so you no longer have to use a password if you don’t want to. To change your password settings, go to settings ->Lock screen
