Excellent Resource to Learn and Become Expert in SCCM Reporting

I always get requests from management, asset and licensing team to create custom SCCM reports. SCCM reporting is one of the area I never tried to spend more time. Honestly, SCCM reporting a vast topic and you can be master of it in a day or two. First of all you need to have proper understanding of SCCM concepts like Data Discovery, Data collection, Hardware Inventory and more over SQL Queries + SSRS. This blog post will give you an opportunity to know more about an excellent book called “System Center Configuration Manager Reporting Unleashed” and how this resource will help to improve your SCCM Reporting skills.

I read SCCM guru Garth Jone’s ( + co-authors Dan Toll and Kerrie Meyler) new book on SCCM reporting. I loved the approach they took in the book “System Center Configuration Manager Reporting Unleashed” to explained the complex things like SCCM data collection, State messages, Status Messages, Report Design and RBA based reports. They explained each topics in a very simple and easy way to understand. This is done via real world explanation of each SCCM concept, sample SQL queries and result screen shots. This is an excellent approach to teach SCCM reporting from beginner to expert level. I would highly recommend this book for all IT Pros who wanted to learn more about SCCM reporting and wanted to become expert in creating custom SCCM reports.
