Microsoft Announce the Official end of support announcement of Windows 10 free support on October 14, 2025. There is no more free security updates or non-security fixes via Windows Update for Windows 10 Home and Pro editions.
Microsoft announced that, Windows 10 is an allowed version in Intune. Devices running this version can still enroll in Intune and use eligible features, but functionality won’t be guaranteed and can vary. Intune helps users to maintain core management functionality for Windows 10 with different ways.
The Primary reason of Windows 10 end of support is due to security, technological advancement, and a shift to newer hardware capabilities represented by Windows 11. If you are a Windows 10 users, don’t worry you have option to continue security protection are indeed limited to paying extra, or utilizing specific free incentives, through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.
If your computer cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 (due to hardware requirements like TPM 2.0), you must enroll in the ESU program to continue receiving critical security patches. The ESU program provides “critical” and “important” security updates for Windows 10, version 22H2, for up to three years, but consumers only have a 1-year option.

Free ESU options are only available for the first year (until October 2026) for non-commercial users (Home/Pro). After that, the device will be unsupported unless you purchase new hardware or switch operating systems. For better security and enhanced features, Microsoft Recommend Windows 10 users to upgrade their device to Windows 11.
There are many Windows 10 versions are stop support from October 14 2025. Microsoft Mostly recommend Windows 10 users to Upgrade devices to Windows 11 for enhanced features and there is No more Windows 10 Patches. Basically ESU is a temporary bridge that provides critical security patches.

How Microsoft Intune Helps Users for Transition
To maintain the Windows 10 device security, Microsoft Intune suggest some methods. It includes, Continuity of device management. Support for updates and migration workflows to Windows 11. Ability for ESU customers to deploy Windows security updates and maintain secure patch levels.
Note: The final release of Windows 10 (version 22H2) is designated as an “allowed” version in Intune. While updates and new features are not available, devices running this version can still enroll in Intune and use eligible features, but functionality is not guaranteed and can vary.
How to Prepare for this Transition
Use the All devices report in the Intune admin center to identify devices still running Windows 10 and upgrade eligible devices to Windows 11.
- Sign into Microsoft Intune Admin Center with your admin credentials.
- select Devices. Then click on All devices to view your full inventory.

Risk of Continue using Windows 10 after October 14, 2025
If you continue using Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, without ESU enrollment or upgrading. Your PC will be vulnerable to new, unpatched security flaws that hackers will actively target, putting your data and privacy at high risk. Microsoft will not provide technical assistance for any issues related to the Windows 10 operating system.
