In this article, let’s check how to configure new Windows App Settings for Windows 365 using Microsoft Intune. Windows Apps Settings (Preview) mainly includes User self-service actions in the Windows App, allowing administrators to decide which actions end users can perform on their own across all Cloud PCs and Cloud apps, on both managed and unmanaged devices.

Windows App Settings User Self-Service Actions
When enabled, users can reset their Cloud PC to resolve issues without IT intervention (applicable only to users assigned to Enterprise, Frontline Dedicated, or Reserve provisioning policies) and initiate a Restore to roll back their Cloud PC to a previous healthy state. These controls help reduce support overhead while giving users quick, guided recovery options in a secure and controlled manner. There are two main user actions available in these settings: Reset and Restore. The table gave you a brief idea about the configuration options available.

Configure a New Windows App Settings for Windows 365 in Intune
To configure a new Windows App settings for Windows 365, log in to the Microsoft Intune Admin Center using your administrator credentials.
- Navigate to > Devices > Device onboarding > Windows 365
- Click on Settings > +Create > Windows App settings (preview)

In the Basics details pane, name the new settings HTMD – Windows App Settings and provide a brief description. After that, click Next.

In the Configuration settings, the options are initially set to Not configured. Click on the Enable users to reset their Cloud PC and Allow users to initiate a Restore drop-down menu, and change the setting to Enable.

On the next pane, keep the Scope tags set to Default. If your tenant has custom scope tags, you can choose them according to your settings needs, then click Next.

I am assigning settings to the Windows 365 – CPC Users group. This Entra ID group includes users who need these settings. To do this, click on Add groups and then select the appropriate user group in the Select groups section.

On the Review + create page, carefully review all the settings you’ve defined for the HTMD – Windows App Settings. Once you’ve confirmed everything is correct, select Create to deploy it.

End User Experience of Reset Option
Now we will evaluate the end-user experience of the newly configured settings. You can access Cloud PCs or Windows Cloud Apps either through the Windows App or your browser at https://windows.cloud.microsoft. Here, I am using the Windows App.
Open the Windows app and log in using your user credentials. Then, navigate to Devices, find your Cloud PC, and click on the three dots for more options. You should now see the Reset option available to you.
Note: Reset – delete all data and reset any changes made on this Cloud PC. Resetting will: Reinstall Windows, Remove personal files and apps, Reset any changes to settings, and Remove any saved restore points. To avoid losing everything on this Cloud PC, use restore to return it to a previous point in time. The Cloud PC will be unavailable until it completes the reset.

To perform a reset, click on the Reset option. This will bring up the Reset Windows 365 pop-up. Select the checkbox for Yes, I want to reset this Cloud PC, and then click on Reset.

End User Experience of Restore Option
Open the Windows App, sign in with your user credentials, and navigate to Devices. Find your Cloud PC and click on the three dots to see the available Restore option.

Click on the Restore option. This will bring up the Restore Windows 365 pop-up. Select the checkbox for Yes, I want to restore this Cloud PC, choose an available restore point, and then click on Restore to proceed.
Note: Restore – Restoring your Cloud PC will permanently delete all data saved to your Cloud PC between the specified time and now. Remove any apps installed between the specified time and now. This action can’t be reversed.
