According to Gartner’s latest research, Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) is one of the areas where the Digital Workplace Infrastructure and Operations leaders would like to put more effort. Adaptiva announced a new 3rd Party Patching Tool Adaptiva Endpoint Patching.
Microsoft and all the other vendors are concentrating more on Automatic patching solutions (e.g., Windows Autopatch) for the Digital workplace. The next level of Automation is the key topic, especially for Digital Workplace leaders.
AI-based Automation is the next transformation that the industry is looking into. The Hybrid work and Hybrid workplace infrastructure made operations more complex. The industry must look for Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered technology to reduce manual efforts and provide a better digital experience for end-users.
With sophisticated cyber attacks, Cyber risk mitigation is another challenge for workplace deployments. The industry is looking for more aggressive automated solutions for 3rd party application (non-Microsoft) application patching solutions.
- We think embedding the AI Ops framework into most modern software products is standard practice.
Autonomous Endpoint Management AEM
Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) is the emerging focus area for Digital Workplace Infrastructure and Operations leaders, as per the Gartner study released in July 2022. As per this study, Digital workplace leaders are challenged more than ever to rethink technology and operations to keep pace with the changing technology landscape.
Gartner’s research paper states, “AEM supports agile approaches, eliminates IT overhead, and enables efforts to be redirected toward employee enablement and business-value-added work.” AEM has much business potential with a lesser percentage of market penetration now.
Gartner’s research also mentions that “AEM combines capabilities of UEM and DEX (aka Digital Employee Experience) tools, but also could potentially include capabilities of VDI/DaaS, SaaS Applications, as well as IT and software asset management tools.”
Autonomous Adaptiva Endpoint Patching Solution
The Autonomous Endpoint Patching solution is the newest 3rd party patching solution that Apativa announced recently. More details would be shared in the live Webinar scheduled after 47 days as per their website. We think that will be on 25th October 2022.
We think Adaptiva is trying to cover the “Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM)” market with the new 3rd party patching solution called Adaptiva Endpoint Patching.
As per Adaptiva, the Autonomous Patching solution helps to patch Every Application. It Intelligently automates the entire software patching process from identification to enterprise-wide deployment. The following are the main highlights of this 3rd party patching product.
- Complete Visibility -> Real-Time Reporting & Monitoring (Similar to CMPivot?)
- Empower End-Users -> Ability to Start, Stop, or Pause patch deployments
- Model Repository -> Ability to create patch templates
- Intune and SCCM -> Improves SCCM/Intune performance
The following table provides details of the Adavativa Endpoint patching solution. Some of this information is based on our previous experience with Adaptiva deployments. We must wait for confirmation from Adaptiva after the release of the product.
Adaptiva Endpoint Patching (AEP) Solution | Details | Remark |
---|---|---|
Architecture for the Endpoint Patching solution from Adaptiva? | Server + Client Architecture. Most probably, Adaptiva will be leveraging existing Adaptiva client components to facilitate additional functionality. | More details and confirmation are pending from Adaptiva. |
Agent or Agentless solution? | We think this is an Agent-based (Adaptiva Client agent) solution. | More details are awaited from Adaptiva. |
Device Platform Support | We think this solution is only for the Windows platform. | We don’t think there would be any options for Linux; macos platform patching is in scope for now. |
Will there be any on-prem/cloud server infra required? | We think this solution must require IaaS components either in Cloud or On-Prem. | More details and confirmation are pending from Adaptiva. |
Leveraging WSUS? | No (we think) | It’s 3rd party application patching solution, so we don’t think WSUS is needed. |
Can this work without SCCM and Intune integration? | Yes (we think) | More details and confirmation are pending from Adaptiva. |
Can Microsoft’s Windows Updates or WUfB be managed by Adaptiva Endpoint Patching solution and replace SCCM/WSUS patching? | No, we don’t think this is the intent of this product from Adaptiva. | Will wait and see more clarification from Adaptiva on this. |
Can this be tightly integrated with SCCM and Intune? | We think the solution is based on Adaptiva Workbench | Let’s wait and see more information on this. |
3rd party application patch catalog supported by AEP solution | Over 600 unique applications and 7,000 versions | Attend a Live webinar to get more details. |
