App installation over Microsoft Intune is very easy. The first step is to log into the Microsoft Intune admin center using your credentials. Then, navigate to Apps > All apps to get started.

  • In all apps select the +Add for selecting App type.
  • Select Enterprise App Catalog app from the dropdown arrow as App type.
  • Click on the Select.

When you select the app type, you’ll be getting the app information page. Here, you will see a hyperlink labeled Select App. Click on it, and you’ll get a list of apps that you can install for your organization.

After clicking on Select, you’ll get the app information page. Here, you will see a hyperlink titled Select App. Click on it to get a list of apps you can install for your organization.

  • Here, I select ClockAssist App for deploying.
  • Click on the Next option.

When clicking the Next option, you can join the configuration page. Here, you can see the app’s details, such as the package name and the available languages and versions.

  • Click to Next for the further procedure.

After the configuration process, we are on the app information page. Here, we can see all the details about the ClockAssist App. It includes, Name, Description, Publisher etc.

  • Name: ClockAssist
  • Description : The essential tool for every timekeeper. Faster, easier and more complete time logging.
  • Publisher : ClockAssist
  • App Version : 1.1.9001.20858

On the app information page, scroll down to locate an option called Select Image, where we can add an app logo to identify the app quickly later. Follow the below step and Image.

  • Tap on Select Image
  • Upload the logo from your saved files.
  • Click OK

You will get a notification indicating that the logo was uploaded. After that, click Next, and the logo will appear on your app information page.

Next is the program, where you can find details about the installation command, behavior, installation duration, and more. This step automatically adds the information due to the nature of enterprise applications and catalog policies.

  • Click Next button

After that, you will see the Requirements page. Like the Program, it is also a default section. This page specifies that the operating system architecture is 64-bit and that the minimum operating system is Windows 10 version 1607. Click to Next for further procedure.

Now, we are in Detection Rules. This section offers information associated with file and registry paths. We don’t need to do anything here. We can skip this section and click on Next.

After the Detection Rules, we are now on the Scope Tags. We can add the scope tags to the policy by clicking Select Scope Tags.

  • Click Next to proceed.

The Assignments section is very important for deploying an App in Intune. Here, you can add groups to the policy.  Click on Add Group to see a list of groups you can add to the app deployment. After selecting your chosen group, proceed to deploy the app. Select the group that you want to deploy and click on Next.

  • Here, I select Test_HTMD_Policy

The Review + Create option is the last stage summarising the deploying App details given in the previous steps. It contains all the information throughout the policy creation process, including the name, description, and app version.

  • After a thorough checkup, click Add App to deploy the App.

When you click on Add App, you will be notified that the application has been successfully created.  This ensures that the app has been successfully installed on the assigned groups. After the app has been assigned to these groups, the policy creation process takes about 8 hours. So, you can sync the app manually in the company portal.

  • Go to Company Portal > Settings > Sync
  • Check Downloads and Updates for checking new added App.

Monitoring Status of ClockAssist App

After checking in the downloads and update option, go to the Intune portal to check the monitor status. Go to Apps> All Apps. Then, you can search for the policy you created. Here, I search for ClockAssist. Click on the App details. You will see a new window displaying the device status 1. It means the ClockAssist app has been installed successfully.

End User Experience

After the manual syncing, the app will automatically be deployed to the workstation. To confirm the installation, open the company portal and go to Downloads and Updates. Now, you can search for the installed App.
