Today, we are discussing Enable Disable Default Browser Settings Campaign Policy in MS Edge Browser using M365 Admin Center. As we all know, Microsoft Edge is one of the most important browsers, offering various security features to users.
In this case, the Microsoft 365 Admin Center allows administrators to configure different types of policies for Microsoft Edge to ensure security, productivity, and overall enhancement within an organization. Now, let us focus on one of the key settings in Microsoft Edge and the Default Browser Setting Policy.
With this policy Organizations to control which browser is used by default. A Default Browser Setting Policy helps do that by making sure everyone in an organization uses the same browser when opening links. This is one of the important parts of this policy because it always ensures security.
This policy is act as a feature that shows a message asking users if they want to make Edge their main browser and Bing their search engine. If the policy is enabled or not configured, users will see this prompt when they open Edge. If the user agrees, their settings will change to Edge and Bing.

What Happens If the Default Browser Settings Campaign” Policy is Enabled or Not Configured?
If this policy is enabled or not configured, users will be prompted to set Microsoft Edge as their default browser and Microsoft Bing as their default search engine. If the user accepts, the settings will change; if they dismiss the prompt, their current browser settings will stays as unchanged.
Enable Disable Default Browser Settings Campaign Policy in MS Edge Browser using M365 Admin Center
The “Default Browser Settings” policy in Microsoft Edge allows administrators to manage how Edge through across an organization, including setting it as the default browser and enforcing certain browsing configurations. Now, let’s discuss how to deploy this policy in Microsoft 365:
- First, log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center using your admin credentials.
- Navigate to Settings > Microsoft Edge.
- Click on Configuration Policies.
- Then, click + Create Policy.

Basics
After clicking Create Policy, you will be taken to the Basics tab. This tab allows you to enter the name and description for the policy. Next, select the Policy Type as Intune, then choose the Platform as Windows 10 and Windows 11. Once done, click Next to proceed.
Settings
After completing the Basics tab, you will move on to the Settings tab. Here, you’ll see an Add Settings button. When you click this button, you’ll be taken to the configuration page, where you can choose the settings you want to deploy.
Configure a Setting
Now you’re on the Configure Settings page. Here, you can either search for the specific setting by name or browse through categories such as Additional Settings, Application guard settings, etc. When you search for a policy, 2 tabs appear in the right panel: Value and More Details. In the Value tab, you’ll see a dropdown menu with Enable and Disable options.
- To enable the policy, select Enable from the dropdown, then click Select.
- After this, you’ll see a notification confirming that the policy has been successfully updated.
More Details
Now you’re on the More Details tab. I strongly recommend reviewing this tab, as it provides a clearer understanding of the policy. It contains all the important information and details related to the policy. So please read carefully the More details always and never skip this section.
Extensions
After the Settings tab, you will arrive at the Extensions tab. Microsoft 365 Admin Center allows you to add extensions to the policy if needed. In this policy deployment, I chose to skip this section because it is not mandatory. However, if you want to add extensions, simply click on +Add Extension.
Assignments
The Assignments tab is just as important as the Settings tab. Here, you can assign the policy to a specific group. For example, I selected the Test HTMD Policy group. After selecting the group, click Select. You will receive a success message confirming that the group has been assigned to the policy.
- Then, click Next to continue.
Finish
The Finish tab is the last stage of policy creation. On this page, you can review all the details you entered during the policy setup, such as basic information, assignments, and configuration settings. You will see a Review + Create button. When you click it, the policy will be created successfully, and you will receive a confirmation message indicating that the policy has been created.
Monitoring Status
After creating a policy, the main concern is whether it was created and applied successfully. To verify this, you can check it in the Intune portal. Sign in to the Microsoft Intune portal, then go to Devices > Configuration Profiles. In the Configuration section, search for the name of the policy you created.
- Once you find it, you can check its monitoring status to confirm whether it has been applied successfully.

Client Side verification
It is very important to understand client-side verification, as it helps confirm whether the policy was successfully created and applied. You can check client-side verification after the Sync. First Click on the Start Menu, Search Event Viewer, and open it. On the User Account Control window, click on the Yes button.
- Then,On the Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement- Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider > Admin.
- The success result can be seen on the Event ID 814 or 813.
- I get the Result From 814.
