In Notepad version 11.2311.29.0 for Windows 11 Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels, and Notepad version 11.2311.33.0 in the Beta Channel, a new feature has been added. You can now see the character count of your document in the status bar.

How to Check Character Count

Let’s check how we can check the character length of the text in Notepad. First, we should open Notepad. To do so, click Start and then search Notepad.

You can open a document from File. For example, I am taking a Windows 1124H2 file for your reference.

When the document is selected, the status bar, situated at the bottom of the Notepad interface, shows the character count for the selected text and the whole document. Here, it is 32 out of 212 characters.

If you have not selected a particular word or text, the character count for the entire document will automatically display. In this context, it is 212 characters.
