Let’s check the Windows Autopatch Deployment Schedule for Windows quality updates. Microsoft released Windows quality and security updates on the 13th Sept 2022 patch Tuesday.
Windows Autopatch is a cloud service that automates Windows, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams updates to improve security and productivity across your organization.
Autopatch is the next level of Automation service offered by Microsoft to help admins and organizations to manage monthly patching. We think the Autopatch solution is part of the Autonomous Endpoint Mgmt (AEM) initiative.
The AEM is one of the areas where the Digital Workplace Infrastructure and Operations leaders would like to put more effort, as per Gartner research. Since Window Autopatch is automatically deployed to the group of devices, it’s important to understand the deployment schedule.
4 Phases of Windows Autopatch Deployment
There are 4 Phases of Windows Autopatch deployment. While configuring the Autopatch policy, you normally get an option to select 5 groups, as you see below. The organization gets options to Pause or Resume the phase-wise deployment of Autopatch.
- Automatic (is not part of any specific phase)
- Test
- First
- Fast
- Broad
Windows Autopatch Deployment Schedule
As mentioned above, the communication and change management process is very critical for all organizations. Windows Autopatch Deployment Schedule is important to communicate with all the customers using this service.
You don’t see any deployment schedule published for the Autopatch Automatic group. Microsoft is doing good work communicating the schedule. The first way is to check the Windows Autopatch Release Management node from the Endpoint Manager portal:
- Endpoint Manager -> Devices -> Windows Autopatch node.
- Click on Release Management – to understand the Windows Autopatch Deployment Schedule.
Autopatch Deployment Schedule Advisory
Microsoft also releases Windows Autopatch deployment schedules for Windows quality updates as an Advisory in Microsoft 365 admin portal. The advisory released for Sept 2022 Autopatch deployment schedule is MC427149.
NOTE! – Quality updates may be expedited or delayed depending on Windows Autopatch’s internal review of the latest signals related to each release.
