Steps to Configure Address Bar Dropdown Policy
With some steps, you can easily configure the edge open in sidebar policy. To start policy creation, Open the Microsoft Intune admin center. Go to Devices > Configuration > Policies > + New Policy.
Create a Profile
After that you will get create a profile window. Form this window you have to select platform and profile type. First of all you select platform, then only you can select profile type.
- Select Windows 10 and later as platform
- Select settings catalog as profile type.
- Click on the create button
Basic Tab
Basic tab is the initial step of policy creation on this tab you have to give a name for the policy that you want to create the name field is mandatory. Without giving a name you can’t create policy on the basic tab. You can also give the description for the policy, which is not compulsory. Click on the next button.
Configuration Settings Tab
On the configuration tab you can select specific policy settings to manage your organisation’s devices. On this page click on the + Add settings hyperlink. Then you will get settings picker that will show different types of categories to select specific settings. Here I browser category and select Allow Address Bar Dropdown enabled settings.
Enable Address Bar Dropdown Policy
After selecting the settings you can close the settings picker page on the configuration settings page. The default value of Address Bar Dropdown is enabled. If you want to keep the enabled settings click on the create button.
Disable Address Bar Dropdown
Here I would like to disabled this policy so I select the disabled value by toggle the pane to the left side. By disable this setting, employees won’t see the Address bar drop-down functionality in Microsoft Edge. Follow the below screenshot.
Scope Tag
Next section is the scope tag and which is not a compulsory. There is no need to adding scope tags. Here I skip the section and click on the next button. The below screenshot shows more details.
Assignments Tab
The Assignments tab is the crucial step that determine which are the groups can be selected to assign the policy. Click on the +Add groups option under included groups. Select the group from the list of groups on your tenant. Click on the Select button.

- Click on the Next button from the below window.
Review + Create Tab
Review + Create tab is the final stage of policy creation. On this tab you can verify each and every details of policy which are added on the previous steps. If you want to make any changes click on the previous button otherwise you can click on the create button.
Device and User Check-in Status
When the policy created successfully, you can sync the device on the company portal for faster deployment. After that, you can check the monitoring status on the Company Portal. Here the Status shows succeeded as 1.
Client Side Verification – Event Viewer
Checking Client Side verification helps you to determine the policy is deployed on the targeted group. To do this you can check client side verification using Event Viewer. Open the Event Viewer and navigate to Application and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement–Enterprise–Diagnostics–Provider > Admin.
