Expectations About Log Analytics Agent After the Retirement

Users can expect some new development on Microsoft Monitor Agent (MMA) or OMS agent after August 31, 2024. It includes Data upload, installation and reinstall.

  • Data Upload – Data upload can be done as same as before. The upload will be suspended when major customers have finished migrating, and data volumes significantly drop at some point. This can be expected to take at least 6 to 9 months. You will not receive a breaking change notification of the suspension.
  • Install and Reinstall – Install and reinstall legacy agent is same as before. You will not be able to get support for installing or reinstalling issues.
  • Customer Support – Support for MMA/OMS for security issues can be expected.
