  • Windows Hello is another protection method used in Windows against threats.
  • The ESS Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security is a new feature that provides additional security. It uses hardware and software components, including virtualization-Based Security (VBS) and Trusted Platform Module 2.0.

1. Smart App Control

Intelligent app control is a new feature of Microsoft’s app intelligence services and Windows’ code integrity features that prevent threats. It ensures that only safe apps and binaries can run on your system and always prevents harmful software from executing.

  • Smart App Control uses an AI model that analyzes massive amounts of security data collected by Microsoft daily
  • The AI models used are based on the 78 trillion security signals Microsoft collects daily, and they will help you analyze whether your app is safe or not.
  • Smart app control will block if any unknown app is detected, and this provides effective protection against malware

2. Trusted Signing

Trusted Signing is another new enhancement of the security level. Trusted signing meant that certificate management, to enhance the security. Trusted Signing is a fully managed solution by Microsoft. It simplifies the certificate signing process for developers.

  • Unsigned Apps Risk are the apps without a valid digital signature. They pose significant risks because they lack a trustworthy source.
  • Signing up for an app ensures its trust and will lead to a positive reputation. It is also helpful for Future updates, reducing the chance of accidental blocking by threat detection systems.

3. Win32 App Isolation

Win32 app isolation is one of the new security features to help Windows app developers limit damage and protect user privacy when an app is compromised. The Smart app control blocks untrusted apps from running.

These combined features will help to prevent attacks. It builds on AppContainers, creating a security boundary and virtualizing resources like printers, registries, and files.

4. Making Admin Users More Secure

Making admin users more secure is another security feature invented by Microsoft. With this, users run as full admins on their devices. Because of this, the access to critical system resources, apps and services are the same. In this case, Apps can secretly misuse this access. So Windows needs admin access only when necessary, not by default.

  • Windows Hello will secure the approval, allowing an easy way to grant or deny requests.

5. VBS Enclaves

Virtualization-based security (VBS) enclaves are another Security feature for Windows. These features are software-based trusted execution environments within the address space of a host application. You know this feature is very useful in securely partitioning memory and isolating sensitive parts of an application.

  • VBS Enclaves are not only available for Windows but also for third-party developers
  • It will allow OS protection for sensitive tasks and data decryption.
