We discussed the issue above now; Microsoft also provided a solution to confirm the problem by checking the Windows Event Viewer Application Log for Event 1000 or Event 1001. The log will show details like the name of the crashed app and the module name, which changes based on the language packs installed.

  • The name of the faulty module will change based on the language packs you have installed.
  • Outlook, Word, or OneNote crashes after updating to Version 2407 Build 17830.20138 are probably caused by the language packs not being updated to match the Microsoft Office version.

Workaround for this Issue

So, let’s check the workaround for this issue on Outlook, Word, or OneNote: unexpectedly closing when typing. We have already mentioned that it could happen because the language packs have not been updated to match the Office version.

  • If any issue happens to your office application, you do some essential solutions, like restarting the application.
  • Wait for some time after the restart.
  • If it does not work, you can check the language pack file.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Language pack

You can check the language pack file and confirm if the problem is with the language pack. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\ mscss7xx.dll. The version of these files should be similar to your Office version; if it is not the same or does not match.

  • You can update the language packs to the latest version, which should fix the problem.
  • If there is any issue with this, configuring the Microsoft 365 language is essential. It also affects all 365 applications.
  • To configure the Microsoft 365 language, follow these steps.
    • Select any 365 application here; I selected Excel
    • Click on the File tab in the top-left corner.
    •  From the menu, choose Options.
    • In the Options window, select Language from the left side of the Window.
    •  Under Office display Language, ensure the language you want to use is listed. If it is not listed, you may need to add it.

You can also check the Authoring Languages. Here, you must check Under Office authoring languages and proofing; make sure the language you want to use is listed. If the language pack has proofing tools, it will show that proofing has been installed. If it shows proofing is available, click the link to install the proofing tools.

  • Here, you can see that Proofing is installed.
