Let’s check the Policy Assignment Failure Report from Intune, Endpoint Manager portal. The Assignment failures operational report helps you troubleshoot errors and conflicts for configuration profiles that have been targeted to devices.

This report will show a list of configuration profiles for the tenant and the number of devices in a state of error or conflict. You can view all the policies applied to your device in the new single report containing improved data.

The Intune device configuration report also shows the details of the different types of profiles you deployed, either its settings catalog, Custom, device restriction policy, WindowsHealthMonitoring, or DeviceRestrictions.

Intune Role-based access control (RBAC) permissions have been applied to the report to filter the set of policies that an admin can see. Those RBAC permissions include the Security Baseline permission, the Device Configuration permission, and the Device Compliance Policies permission.

Intune Policy Assignment Failure Report 

Intune provides several ways to Configuration Profiles, Security Baselines, and Endpoint Security profiles that you manage. Let’s follow the steps to view the details of the Policy Assignment Failure report –

  • Sign in to the Endpoint Manager Intune portal https://endpoint.microsoft.com/
  • Select Devices > Monitor.

This report will show a list of configuration profiles for the tenant and the number of devices in a state of error or conflict. You can also see Security baselines and endpoint security profiles have been added to this report.

The profile types are differentiated using the Policy type column. You can click on the profile name to drill down the reports.

Here you can see a list of devices and users in a failure state related to the profile. The status shows the status of the device or user check-in at a set level within the policy. The states include error, conflict, and success.

You can also filter by type and platform, sort based on column, and search by profile name.

You can quickly export the assignment failures summary reports. Click on the Export. The popup will appear with the message when exporting the configuration policy device report, Click Yes. This will export data to a comma-separated values (.csv) file.

A notification will appear automatically in the top right-hand corner with the message Export assignment failures summary report is in progress. You will get a success message once the process completes.

You can also get to report on the Intune Admin Center Home page. Clicking on error or conflict for the device configuration policies will redirect you to the Assignment failures report.
